How to keep your home free from cockroaches

15 Oct. 2024

Known for being one of the most indestructible pests, cockroaches are common in homes across Perth. Cockroaches can carry a variety of diseases and are well known for spreading various types of food poisoning. Reports show that cockroaches can cause allergic and asthmatic reactions in people as well.

Female cockroaches can carry on average between 10-40 eggs at a time, making infestations of cockroaches around homes not uncommon.

Cockroach Pest Control

There are some things you can do in and around your home to help prevent cockroaches, such as:

1.    Keep your home clean
Cockroaches are attracted to food and water sources. Make sure to clean up spills, crumbs, and food debris promptly. Regularly take out the trash and keep food stored in airtight containers.

2.    Seal entry points
Cockroaches can enter your home through small cracks and crevices. Seal gaps around doors, windows, and pipes to prevent them from entering.

3.    Remove clutter
Cockroaches love to hide in cluttered areas. Declutter your home and remove any unnecessary items to eliminate potential hiding spots for these pests.

4.    Fix leaks
Cockroaches need water to survive. Fix any leaks in pipes, taps, or appliances to eliminate sources of water that may attract them.

5.    Use traps and baits
Consider using cockroach traps and baits to monitor and control infestations. Place them in areas where cockroaches are commonly seen.

Following these tips can help prevent cockroaches from infesting your home. If issues with cockroaches around your home persist, consider calling in a Pest Control Professional.
