Unusual Termite Activity

30 Nov. 2015

Termites can be found in unusual places! The termites in this video are in a wooden pallet, under some plastic wrap.

What's so unusual about this you ask?

Termites are a bit like vampires and hide from the sunlight.

Perth's most common termite, the subterranean termite, needs moisture to survive and will die if exposed to sunlight or open air for more than a few minutes.

These termites found by our Termico technicians, have enough humidity and protection from the plastic wrap to walk around in the open without having created the usual mud leads.

Termites are always looking to find new ways to get to their food source. Termites can be present in strange places inside your home. Quite often without arousing any suspicion. You may see the mud-like structures they build on the outside of walls to gain entry, but not always. Termites only need a tiny crack in the concrete slab to gain entrance into your home and as this video shows, can turn up unexpectedly.

So call us to book in a termite inspection for your Perth home. Our trained pest control technicians know where to find these invasive creatures. Your home and contents insurance does not cover you for termite damage - so call us today!
